May 2025 Update: My son now drives the 2009 TSX with its engine repair described below. 210k+ miles on the car...
Davis Acura service, under Steve Pulli, really did the right thing for me. My ’09 Acura TSX with manual transmission was consuming oil, a known problem to Acura Corp, who had issued an extended engine warrantee of 8 yrs or 125k miles for some TSX model years. I was within a couple of months of the 8 yrs so I went through the required oil consumption test. It was tedious, with several checks back at the dealer, and it took a call to Steve to escalate some action from Acura Corp. I was firm but courteous with Steve and he was respectful and attentive with me.
In the end, Davis Acura performed extensive engine work as part of the fix while granting me a loaner car. I’m extremely pleased! Not only should my engine stop burning oil but it should last quite some time now with its new pistons and rings. Some owners on web forums express frustration getting the runaround from their dealers with this specific problem. Davis Acura worked on my behalf to get it done under warrantee. And I'm confident in the experienced tech who performed the work. Thank you!
As much as I’m happy to have my car back in good shape, I sure did enjoy driving the new 6 cylinder TLX loaner. Smooth, lots of power and 30 mpg average over the 3 days I had it. Check it out, at Davis.

May 2025 Update: My son now drives the 2009 TSX with its engine repair described below. 210k+ miles on the car...
Davis Acura service, under Steve Pulli, really did the right thing for me. My ’09 Acura TSX with manual transmission was consuming oil, a known problem to Acura Corp, who had issued an extended engine warrantee of 8 yrs or 125k miles for some TSX model years. I was within a couple of months of the 8 yrs so I went through the required oil consumption test. It was tedious, with several checks back at the dealer, and it took a call to Steve to escalate some action from Acura Corp. I was firm but courteous with Steve and he was respectful and attentive with me.
In the end, Davis Acura performed extensive engine work as part of the fix while granting me a loaner car. I’m extremely pleased! Not only should my engine stop burning oil but it should last quite some time now with its new pistons and rings. Some owners on web forums express frustration getting the runaround from their dealers with this specific problem. Davis Acura worked on my behalf to get it done under warrantee. And I'm confident in the experienced tech who performed the work. Thank you!
As much as I’m happy to have my car back in good shape, I sure did enjoy driving the new 6 cylinder TLX loaner. Smooth, lots of power and 30 mpg average over the 3 days I had it. Check it out, at Davis.
